Thank you Lord for 2010!

Today represents the last day of 2010. We are approximately 7 hours away from the end of this year and decade to the beginning of a new year and new decade. I want to share with the world my reflections on 2010.

2010 has been the greatest year of my adult life! Life has been a little rocky since 2005 and in between 2005 and 2010 many things have taken place. One of the biggest things is our family moving away from our home in Elon to Burlington. In spite of that God has still blessed me and my family to be alive in spite of everything that has taken place. For that I give God praise!

Yet 2010 represented the following things for me: accomplishment, maturity, healing, deliverance and empowerment. There are probably more words but those are the ones that came to my head.

One of the biggest accomplishments happened on May 22, 2010 as I graduated from Elon University with a B.A. degree in Human Services. I became the first person in my immediate family (mother, father, children) to graduate from college. It is through God and the help of Dr. Matthew Clark that I was able to go. My grades and overall standing as a person, according to society, did not make me eligible to go to Elon. But I thank God for His favor allowing me to be in that place for 4 years. It is through an Elon education that I met many people who have blessed my life! It is also through Elon that I learned a lot and had my perspective challenged in many ways.

The last half of 2010 has been about healing, becoming more aware of who I am and who God has called me to be, and seeking God's direction as far as career/vocation. I will not reveal yet specifically what God has called me to but will share with you that some great things are about to take place. No longer will I be used by people. No longer will I tolerate people treating me any kind of way. I am valuable to God and understand that God loves me and He loves me so much that he wants to discipline me when I'm wrong.

Overall 2010 has been a great year of preparation, healing and self-awareness. I hope to grow stronger in the Lord in 2011 and hope to be a bigger blessing to our society. I pray your 2011 year will be the greatest year ever! May God continue to keep you! Be who God wants you to be!
