Is the fire gone?

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its salty taste, it cannot be made salty again. It is good for nothing, except to be thrown out and walked on. You are the light that gives light to the world. A city that is built on a hill cannot be hidden. And people don't hide a light under a bowl. They put it on a lampstand so the light shines for all the people in the house. In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and will praise your Father in heaven."-Matthew 5:13-16, NCV.

So I'm sitting in the living room watching Joyce Meyer and one thing she was bringing up was how our lives as Christians should be so hungry and thirsty for God that others see that passion and want to know what they can do to experience it themselves. Yet as I listened I began to wonder if that fire even exists anymore.

In other words, I wonder if the passion of the Christian life still exist. From my observation it seems like the Christian life is not an attractive life to live anymore (as far as from the outside). Christianity, for one, is losing it's place as the standard in this country (even though some might argue that Christianity was never the standard of this country).

To me it just doesn't seem like people (from the outside) are attracted to the idea of the Christian life. To many it seems like the Christian life is just another "type" of life. Why is it? Are people turned off by the idea of the Christian life? Is the issue of hypocrites as bad as we say it is? Are people expecting too much from those who call themselves Christian? Are people turned off by people quoting scriptures and putting Christian stuff on social networks like facebook, myspace, etc.? What is the problem?

My basic argument is that in this day and age we've got to put the passion back in living the Christian life. The Christian life should be so fulfilling and passionate that others will want to see what is so "passionate" about our lives and be intrigued to find out what we are so passionate about.

What do you think? Is the fire gone? Has Christianity lost it's "saltiness" and impact in society? I will not extremely say that it is but it really seems to me that the "fire" of the Christian life and Christianity is heading downhill and is not as attractive as it use to be.

Lord, please send a revival and let it begin with me!!!
