A Call For Healing

2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV): "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

This land is in need of healing! I decided to write about this as a blog instead of putting a status up or starting a thread on this on LGM (learngospelmusic.com) because since January I've been trying to have a more positive/discussion based platform on both of these websites. Yet tonight my heart is heavy and frustrated because I believe we need healing in this land!

Our society is growing more cynical, pessimistic and flat-out mean. We do not have love anymore and we are so concerned about our own selfish desires that we've forgotten about the needs of others. Our young people, especially our teenagers (12-17) are hurting and being raised in a society that doesn't care about them and is teaching values that will hurt us in the long run. We are even skeptical when people show care for us. We try to show love and concern for a person we are close to and all of a sudden that becomes a problem? Why?

Then as a society we are getting away from right and wrong and saying that situational ethics and cultural relativism is the way to go. Because of this, we don't have any more standards or rules. It's basically a "to each it's own" world and a world where everybody does what they want besides following God. I understand people who argue that everyone has their own standards but I am convinced that society will be better once we have absolutes and have order. We are losing order in this society and it is prevalent in how our young people are and what the media is doing to influence their values. While that's happening our adults, the one who raised us are sitting around criticizing us instead of being mentors to us and taking time to talk with us.

There is so much hurt in this society and among individuals but yet there are not healthy ways of expressing the hurt. We are in need of healing!

What are my solutions?

1. Prayer. We need to have more personal prayer time (and I'm talking to myself as well) and we need to have more corporate prayer. Churches should have quarterly prayer sessions or even make our prayer meeting service more prayer-oriented.

2. Get away from situational ethics and cultural relativism. We need to have standards and we need to get back to right and wrong.

3. Attack every societal institution contributing to the decline of this society. That includes the media, schools, churches, and the government. These institutions (along with the other institutions) have set certain values as norms that are hurting us.

4. RETURN BACK TO LOVE! We can sit all day and argue this and that but at the end of the day, we need to go back to the basics of loving one another! What happened to being considerate of one another? What happened to extending a helping hand and not being skeptical of that hand being extended? We can't even tell the difference between someone being concerned and someone being nosey. That's sad.

5. Return back to God. This is connected to the call to Return to Love.

My prayer tonight is that God would heal the land or please come quickly Lord Jesus! If this blog has been offensive or not liking to your tasting I apologize but I am just expressing what is on my heart!
