The Interconnectedness of God's Blessings

In modern Christianity we have sayings such as "what God has for me it is for me" and "My blessing is on the way" and also "God's got a blessing with my name on it." These says have meanings yet there is something that we must understand about blessings from God.

One of the criticisms that Christianity in America has is that it has compromised itself to reflect American culture. Our culture is a very individualistic one. In other words, most of what we do focuses on the individual. Therefore we view problems, situations and mostly anything in the context of the individual. This is why hard work, self-reliance and individual responsiblity are values that the American culture values. Now I want to emphasize that I am not suprised by this because I am a true believer that mostly anything in America reflects the culture, including individuals.

Yet I believe that we should not view God's blessings without understanding it's connection with how we treat each other and live. Watch this: The blessings of God is not solely about me but about how I treat my neighbor! Many of us are not blessed like we should because we don't know how to treat people. Many of us think that we can get the blessings of God in our lives and treat people any kind of way. Some of us think that we can shout, sing and praise our way to our breakthrough and treat people any kind of way. I beg to differ. I believe there is a strong connection between Christian character and God's blessings. This is why we need a balance in our churches between empowering believers to receive their blessings and spiritual maturity/growing in Godly character.

At the end of the day my point is that if we expect God's blessings in our life we must also learn how to walk in Christian character and the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). There is always a interconnectedness between God's blessings and our character/spiritual maturity!
