Ok this is random but I was just thinking about this the other day. In the history books, will facebook go down as one of the greatest social networking tools of all time or as one of the most distracting elements created? My answer.........BOTH!!!
For those of us in school, a lot of us cannot get our homework started without going on facebook for just a little bit. That 5 minutes we said we were going to be on turns into 55 minutes....lol! I wonder sometimes how many of us would be in school as far as performance if facebook never existed.....lol! Then we probably could find other things to distract us.
On the other hand, facebook has been very beneficial for my social. I can think of at least 2-3 friendships/mentoring relationships that have been strengthened through facebook. Before talking a lot on facebook we would simply say hey or not even speak at all. But ever since we started talking a lot on facebook when we see each other we talk more as friends. I find that interesting.
So while facebook has been a big distraction for many of us I also see it as a huge contributor to many of my friendships/mentoring relationships forming!
Facebook might end up being as polarizing as George Bush or Barack Obama or any president ever......lol!
