I want to share two things that I believe kill a church and its effectiveness in the community:
1. Bad Communication
2. Too many people wanting to be in charge (too many chiefs and not enough indians).
In my opinion, communication is so essential towards effective church ministry. If we are on a ministry team committee we should all know together what is going on and how it will affect the ministry as a whole. Major decisions (that require the input of the entire group) should not be done unless it is properly communicated. If certain people should be doing certain roles, everyone should know their role. It is not right to expect people to do certain things or know certain things if those pointers have not been communicated to the person. Communication is very important and can save unnecessary drama.
Last, one of the problems in our churches is too many people wanting to run the show. This is why we need firm leadership in our churches. I do not support a system where one person thinks they know it all and nobody else's opinions matter, HOWEVER I also do not support a system in which people do what they want without accountability. I support a system where firm leadership is in place yet the opinions of the people are counted with the people understanding that the end-result is what counts. I will emphasize again what I have emphasized in the past: organizations run better when there are less people in charge and when roles of the leaders are clearly defined!!!
That's all I wanted to share.
