As many know, our church (the Elon First Baptist Church) is in a period of transition. We are currently without a Pastor. But even through that God is still blessing our church and worship experience. Today marks to me one of the greatest worship experiences we've had in 2010 and during this transition period.
We have 2 services each Sunday. The guest speaker was Eric Baldwin from Greensboro, NC. He tore the house down with the word and while the Word is and should be the center of our focus for church it really started with our praise & worship to God through singing. At our 8:45am service our choir sung "More Abundantly" and the Lord was moving through that song. God moved miracously in the early service through the preaching encouraging us to give thanks in everything inspite of the situation! Then....here we go.....!!!
At 10:45 our service starts with praise & worship and our praise team, for the last selection, sung "Praise Is What I Do" and after we sung that song the church EXPLODED in a praise! People all over the congregation were praising God left and right! Members of our praise team were taken over in the Spirit! In that praise break I stopped playing and our drummer got off and started dancing! People are going through so much and praise tells God "come in and have your way." I was even getting caught up myself!
Then during our personal prayer and meditation time I started playing "How Excellent" and one of our ministers started saying the words and all of a sudden people start singing! It got so filled that our young adult choir, whom had sung at the early service, stood up in the congregation and sung the song! I was directing from the organ to the audience.....lol! Then Rev. Baldwin encouraged us by saying that it's not how we start but how we finish! We should keep running the race!
By far, this was a refreshing service for many of us! Right now God is just doing sooo much and I can't even explain it.....thank you Jesus!!
