My Life, Career and Ministry Mission

One of the things that I am having to think about as I get ready to graduate is what will the rest my life be about. Will it be church ministry? Music Ministry? Social work? This is what I am thinking about right now. But one thing that I am thankful for is that in the latter part of 2009 God gave me my overall life mission.

My overall mission in life, career and ministry goals is to help those who are disempowered, disadvantaged, hurting and oppressed. Every career I work in throughout my lifetime I pray will center upon my life mission. Traditionally I've wanted to just be in one or two careers over my lifetime. But with me developing so many passions (urban community justice, youth, homelessness, pastoral care, etc) I believe that it is possible I could work in many arenas before the end of life. My preference is still one to two career areas in this lifetime but the life is you never know.

My mission in life has been something developed over the course of my young life. So much has happened in my life in just 22 1/2 years and a lot of what happened shifted me career wise. Originally I went to school wanting to do middle school education but through life experience I felt God leading me to human services. During sophomore year I could not understand why I was going into this field but as I began to look at my life experience and what human services was I was like "this makes sense." So I am thankful for God leading me and developing my overall life mission. I know now why I am on this Earth. I pray that God will continue to open doors for me to fulfill my life mission!

Life Mission: To help those who are disempowered, disadvantaged, hurting and oppressed!
